Time to Redefine the War on Drugs – Overmedicated America (Infographic)
Posted in All Other Wellness on July 2, 2012
Think drug cartels are scary? What you really need to watch out for is Big Pharma. While they lack the drama of beheadings and car bombings, the fact is far more people die from “legal” drugs than illegal ones.
It is estimated that some 100,000 people die each year in the US from using their medications as directed. Thousands more die from mistakes and abuse.
All prescription medications can have serious side effects.
Do you think all the drugs prescribed are solely in the best interest of the patient? Think again!
Maybe it’s time to redefine our “war on drugs.” Check out this infographic and let me know what you think.

Doug,
As someone with extensive pre-hospital medical training (US Navy Search And Rescue Medical Tech.) I have long had a loathing for the medicate-the-symptoms approach that most MD’s have taken.
The most telling stats are the ration of research spending vs. marketing spending for Big Pharma.
Thanks for sharing this!
Yeah, it’s criminal isn’t it? I’m not sure how these guys sleep at night.
I remember reading Brave New World when I was a kid. Scenes of people lining up to get their “soma” that numbed them to life. That book was written in 1932. Today people are lining up to get their Prozac and other drugs to numb them out. Scary.
Society has been programmed to believe that problems can be solved with a pill, with no effort on the patient’s part. How nice. Only it doesn’t work and it’s killing people.
IMO, this is one of the industries that’s grown too big for its britches and is coming close to collapse (along with banking, our government, healthcare and education).
At least there’s a group of us (that’s growing, thankfully) that knows better and is working to do something about it.
Thanks for putting this out there Doug!
Hey Paige,
It is scary, hopefully people will wake up and see what’s going on. It’s amazing how big this is and it has so little attention.
My pet hate! What freaks me out is how drug prescriptions are suppression experiments! What a timely reminder this post is!
Good to be here!
